Being a binge eater

I try to eat healthy most of the time, but the problem is, one bad thing – be it a small haribo cherry and that is it. Domino’s are on speed dial and I’m going all about tonight! So, in honour of the fellow bingers of this world (seriously hoping I am not alone in this), here are some things us very special sorts of people can relate to.

  1. There is no such thing as a ‘cheat meal’, who are you trying to kid? One burger is a treat? Na uh! It’s a cheat day for me, sometimes a cheat week.
  2. You will find nothing wrong with making a visit to your nearest supermarket just to participate in this binge and ensure you have the necessary tools to perform the optimum binge, and sometimes multiple trips are necessary.
  3. The slight shame when you get to the till and the checkout assistant says “Having a party?” – erm, no this is actually all just for me…
  4. Walking out of the shop and serving yourself a big helping of self-justification for what just happened, “well I’m not going to eat everything I bought anyway…there was an offer on, and I couldn’t buy just one… they were in a multi-pack”
  5. Getting towards the end of a bumper packet of chocolate biscuits and thinking you should really stop, but don’t, and before you know it… they are all gone.
  6. Getting rid of the evidence. No one can know this happened.
  7. Trying to explain to non-binge eaters how much you actually ate and getting a look of disbelief and pure disgust
  8. The high – becoming almost tipsy on e-numbers and finding everything hilarious
  9. The low – feel sluggish (eats more)
  10. Being so full up you can barely move but still keep going – I swear my stomach has no limit
  11. Being around fellow bingers – pure love
  12. Eating the following would be no problem: Takeaway, doughnuts, biscuits, cakes, sweets, ice-cream. (Please note the plural reference)
  13. Eating bad food that you don’t really even like that much, just because – it’s a cheat day baby.
  14. Spending £20+ on junk food, no biggie
  15. And finally, sharing photos of your post binge bloat with fellow bingers
