It's all about that base

I make no apologies about the cringe Meghan Trainor title, I just couldn't resist. I get asked quite a lot what I wear on my face, so I thought I'd share it here.

I am not a make-up artist, I literally have no idea if what I am doing or using is correct, but it works for me so that's what I do.

Having a flawless base is the main thing for me when doing my make-up. I really love full coverage, fresh looking skin. So that's what I aim for when doing my base.

Now you might laugh... but I have found this to be better than any other high end product I've used. Drum roll please... it's the Nivea for Men Post Shave Balm, and at only £5.35 a pop, you can't go wrong. You need the smallest amount, and I honestly find with this, no matter what foundation I wear, this really helps to keep it on throughout the day.

For me, when it comes to a flawless base there is only one option at the moment, and that's the Estee Lauder Double Wear. This stuff could cover a murder, the coverage and staying power are the two things that make me absolutely love this foundation. I've been using it for years now, and I'm yet to find anything that rivals it. (Not through lack of trying!)

The only bad thing about this foundation is that it can be quite drying, so if you're going to give this a go I'd advise to make sure your skin is nice and hydrated before hand.

I've been using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer for quite a while now and it's something that is always in my make-up bag. It works well on top of double wear to give you a nice bright under eye. I wouldn't say it's my holy grail of concealers, but for now it's doing the job just fine, and at £4 I think that's great value. I'm still on the hunt for the 'one', so if you have any suggestions; please comment below!

I've recently really been loving the Chanel Soleil De Tan. It's the first Chanel make-up item I've owned, but I must say; it doesn't disappoint. I love contouring with this because it's a light mousse type of consistency, which makes it so easy to blend, and when it comes to contour you want it looking neat and well blended, and for me this product makes that so easy.

You can also use this product to bronze up your face and give yourself a really nice radiant and dewy glow.

Setting Powder
After trying and failing with many setting powders, I can now say I have found what I was looking for. The Laurer Mercier Setting Powder is what dreams are made of! It's so multi purpose, I've used it to 'bake' if I'm after a heavier look, I've used it just dusted over my face when I'm going for a more natural look, I've used it to clean up my contour, it works in every circumstance.

I honestly think that the Mary-Lou Manizer by theBalm is the most pigmented highlighter I have ever came across. I really love highlighters with more yellow undertones, as I feel that they work best with my skin tone. This one has got a lot of hype surrounding it and it's not without reason; it's amazing.

If you have any products you can recommend for a flawless base please let me know in the comments below!
