Top 4 foundations for a flawless base

I've recently been undergoing some extensive foundation research, I have literally tried over 20 different foundations throughout 2016 and I now finally have my top 4 that I alternate as I please and that are all perfect for different occasions. It's worth mentioning that I'm not the sort of girl who goes for 'natural' make-up. As much as I would like to be, I blame my obsession with cosmetics for the amount of products I end up applying to my face on a daily basis! Here are my top foundations...

Estee Lauder Double Wear
This has been my go-to foundation for years. Still to this day it's the most high coverage foundation I've ever used. It lasts all day and is literally indestructible. Perfect if you have a long day and need to make absolutely sure that your make-up does not move. I got into a habit of wearing this everyday, and began to notice that it did dry out my skin a little, this is what lead me on my merry way in the search for other foundations that I was going to be able to alternate with this. I now love using this for special occasions, the saying 'distance makes the heart grow fonder' is so true to my relationship with this foundation. Whenever I come back to this product after not using it for a little while, I fall back in love with it a little bit more each time.

Perfect for: Make-up that won't move all day.

Cover FX
This foundation is the answer to my prayers. A lightweight, natural foundation with a high coverage - something that I thought never existed. It does come with a higher price point, and having to take the risk at guessing my shade online, I was unsure of how this would go. It's safe to say Cover FX is now well up there with my beloved Double Wear for top foundations. I have even recently found myself reaching for this when I need my foundation to last; because it really does seem to be standing the test of time.

Perfect for: Night's out, there is no SPF in this so no flashback in photos! #selfiegamestrong

NYX Stay Matte not Flat
As amazing as the foundations I've spoke about already are; they absolutely aren't the cheapest of products. So I went on the search for a foundation that was going to be kinder to my purse. I've tried so many drugstore foundations, and never really liked the consistency of any of them, I could always tell there was just something missing that was reflective in the price point. This however was a bit of a god send. Perfect for days when I just want to slap on a bit of make-up, but the occasion is not special enough to warrant my more expensive products. But don't let me saying that put you off, I was so impressed with the consistency and formula of this foundation, it's medium coverage, but certainly buildable, and it doesn't make your skin look cakey like some other cheaper foundations. The only negative with this foundation is that it isn't as long wearing as the other more expensive foundations, especially if your like me and have a habit of touching your face.

Perfect for: A budget friendly, flawless base.

NARS Sheer Glow
I know I am pretty late to the party on this one, but when I began my search for alternative foundations, I really wanted to give this a try because the hype surrounding it is insane. I was initially put off because of the word 'sheer' in the description. I like a full coverage, flawless base, and was worried that this would disappoint. It didn't. It's honestly not 'sheer' at all, it's actually pretty medium coverage, and again very buildable. The thing I love most about this one is the dewyness it gives my skin. It looks natural, but still flawless; it's more runny/thinner in consistency than the Cover FX foundation, but other than that the end results are quite similar.

Perfect for: A more natural make-up look, with the confidence that everything is still covered (and for blogging about obv.)

I am always on the hunt for more foundation revolutions, so please comment below any that you can recommend to me!
